This is REALLY happening. Somebody pinch me. Today was a marker moment, when it really sunk in....we ARE adopting two children from China. Not just any two children.....two beautiful, amazing, unique blessings the Lord has drawn us to. SO. EXCITED. Why today? Why did it JUST HIT ME today? I'll explain....
Check out THIS cool graphic! One of the ladies in an adoption group made it, and it is an easy visual to understand the crazy paperwork trail that adoption entails.
We are at slightly different stages for both kiddos, but I will simplify it in a list below that will be updated every time there is a change!
Basically, we are at approximately step SIX in this graphic! After gaining the USCIS approval to adopt, the next step is to run our documents through the Chinese consulate, and from there they go back to our agency who can THEN compile our Dossier. We have been working for months to collect ALL the needed documents, get the certifications, notarizations, and state authentications on them all....and TODAY the last of paperwork was gathered, and it was SENT TO DC!!! A courier will receive it tomorrow and run it through the necessary steps and have it off to our agency on or about April 30, 2015.
For some reason up until today, it felt like a lot of "to dos" and not much actually getting done. But today, watching the FedEx man drive off with all that documentation felt like a DONE moment.
Yes, we still have some steps to accomplish, and I am SUPER EXCITED to be SO CLOSE to going!! The Keir family is truly OVER THE MOON about becoming a family of Seven!
